Wedding Calendar Checklist
The following checklist is designed with the (ideal) twelve month timeline in mind.
If you are planning your wedding on a shorter time frame, just start from the beginning of the
list
and try to catch up as fast as possible.
Use the boxes to the left of the items to mark the tasks you complete.
9 to 12 months before the wedding day:
☐ Arrange a gathering for you and your parents.
☐ Decide on the budget and how expenses will be allocated.
☐ Discuss your desired size, style, location and wedding ring.
☐ Select a desired wedding date and time. (Actual date will depend on space availability.)
☐ Create a folder to store and organize ideas, worksheets, receipts, handouts, etc.
☐ Visit and book wedding ceremony and reception venues.
☐ Meet the person who will perform the wedding.
☐ Start creating the guest list to count the people.
Keep the budget in mind when thinking about who you "must" invite and who you "want" to invite.
☐ Start shopping for the wedding dress.
6 to 9 months from the wedding day:
☐ Choose the guests at the wedding reception.
☐ Enter wedding/gift lists.
☐ Hire a photographer and videographer.
☐ Book an engagement photo appointment, especially if you plan to include
a professional engagement photo in your wedding date reminder cards.
☐ Hire a catering company www.cateringcatering.gr
☐ Hire a florist.
☐ Arrange for music to be played at the ceremony and reception.
(Tasks may include booking a band or solo musician, hiring a DJ, determining
important musical selections and so on).
☐ Reserve a set of hotel rooms for out-of-town guests. (Ask about group rates.)
☐ Send the reminder cards of the date. (Include accommodation information and maps if possible.)
☐ Do market research for wedding rings.
☐ Choose and order the wedding dress, allowing enough time for delivery and alterations.
☐ Buy the bridesmaids dresses.
☐ Schedule wedding cake design appointments and tests.
☐ Start planning your honeymoon.
4 to 6 months ago:
☐ Finalize the guest list.
☐ Order invitations (25 extra) and other wedding stationery
(ie place cards and thank you notes).
☐ Plan your wedding day grooming preparations.
Ask your stylist how far in advance you need to book the wedding reception
and if they are willing to work at the wedding location.
☐ Finalize all honeymoon plans.
If you are traveling abroad, arrange visas, passports and vaccinations.
☐ Rent the means of transport for the wedding day (carriage, limousine, etc.).
☐ Plan the rehearsal dinner.
2 to 4 months ago:
☐ Get a marriage license. Submit all necessary documents.
☐ Order suits for the groom and best man.
☐ Meet with the caterer to discuss menus, wine list etc.
☐ Order the wedding cake.
☐ Order the wedding rings.
☐ Confirm the wedding ceremony and reception music.
☐ Book a hotel room for the night of the wedding.
☐ If you are planning to write your vows, start writing them now.
4 to 8 weeks ago:
☐ Mail the wedding invitations 8 weeks before your wedding date.
☐ Do a makeup and hair rehearsal (with the wedding veil, if applicable).
☐ Confirm all transportation plans.
2 to 4 weeks ago:
☐ Arrange the seating arrangements for the reception.
☐ Finalize reservations for out-of-town attendees and guests.
☐ Confirm details with photographer, florist and other suppliers.
☐ Do a final rehearsal of the wedding dress and the bridesmaids' dresses.
☐ Write the rehearsal dinner toast.
☐ Buy gifts for wedding attendees.
☐ Make a list of all wedding and wedding reception suppliers, with contact information.
Take this list with you wherever you go (just in case).
☐ Inform those who will
attend the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner about the details of the rehearsal dinner.
☐ See where the bride, groom and attendees will dress for the ceremony.
1 week ago:
☐ Place the amounts to be paid on the day of the wedding in envelopes for easy distribution.
☐ Give the caterer the final number of attendees.
☐ Assign a trusted person to bring important items (cake knife, toasting glasses, etc.) to the reception.
☐ Assign someone the role of "organizer" to handle any last-minute problems.
☐ Review the final details for those attending the wedding reception.
☐ Get the latest beauty treatments (manicure, facial cleansing, massage, waxing, eyebrow shaping, etc.)
The day before the wedding:
☐ Collect the following:
☐ Something old
It symbolizes continuity with family and tradition
☐ Something new
It symbolizes optimism and hope for the new life ahead
☐ Something borrowed
An item belonging to a friend or relative with a happy marriage
☐ Something blue
It symbolizes love and faith
☐ Confirm honeymoon bookings.
☐ Prepare the luggage for the honeymoon.
☐ Enjoy a relaxing day with friends and family.
☐ Attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Give gifts to attendees.
☐ Give the wedding rings and officiant's payment to the best man.
☐ Try to rest
Day of the wedding:
☐ Post wedding announcements in the mail.
☐ Rest and relax.
☐ Remember to eat something.
☐ Spend at least two hours getting dressed.
